Meet Your OCMS Members Recap

Last Updated 12/16/2021

The kick-off event for Thursdays in the Park, “Meet Your OCMS Businesses” was deemed successful by attendees and organizers. Perfect weather, great food, and fabulous music set the scene for twenty-two businesses whose representatives gave away hundreds of marketing pieces from bags to magnets and coupons to ice cream. Business representatives also used the event to recruit possible employees from the crowd.

While attendees strolled around the courtyard, twelve OCMS Board Members served Hormel pulled pork sandwiches, chips, water and solicited input about the event from those in attendance. Emcee and sound mixer, Chuck DeVos kept the crowd informed about sponsors and drawing winners. The Salt Creek Band kept the courtyard hopping with Classic Rock and Country tunes.

Along with children’s games, some merchants used creative methods for their giveaways. The ladies from Ivy Rose had a version of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ at their booth with many options for prizes, and Terri Johnston brought a Corn Hole activity to engage her potential State Farm customers. The First Christian Church team doled homemade ice cream churned by the O’Hair Family’s antique engine.

Premier sponsor was Osceola Foods. Gold Sponsors included American State Bank, Gilbert True Value and Miller Products. Event Sponsor, Hy-Vee staff also prepared the meat and provided buns and condiments. Fareway provided chips and ice.

Great Western Bank, Cactus Family Farms, Junction Creamery, 615 Graphics and Edward Jones- James Rutherford provided special door prizes.
