Celebrating 23 Years of Culture, Community, and Unity: The Osceola Latino Festival

The Osceola Latino Festival (OLF) has been a beloved tradition in Osceola since 2002. Now in its 23rd year, the festival continues to celebrate and uplift Latino cultures from across the globe while fostering unity and pride within the community.

Originally launched as a Cinco de Mayo celebration, the event was intended to honor Hispanic culture. However, after learning more about the true history of Cinco de Mayo, organizers made an intentional shift. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, where the Mexican army triumphed over the French, not Mexico’s Independence Day, as is often misunderstood. (Mexican Independence Day is actually celebrated on September 16th.)

With a desire to create a space that celebrates all Latino cultures, not just Mexican heritage, the festival was renamed the Osceola Latino Festival. Since then, it has grown into a vibrant celebration featuring food, music, dance, art, and family-friendly activities that highlight the diverse traditions of Latin America.

In 2024, the OLF Committee made another important change, moving the event to September to align with National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15. Starting last year, the festival is now held annually on the first Saturday of September, and this tradition will continue moving forward.

This year promises to be one of the most exciting yet! The OLF Committee has introduced a variety of new attractions, entertainment, and surprises that will bring fresh energy to the festival while staying true to its roots.

At the heart of the Osceola Latino Festival is a mission to bring people together. That’s why the festival’s motto is “Vecinos Unidos”, which means “Uniting Neighbors.” The OLF is more than just a celebration, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength found in diversity, community, and shared experiences.

Whether you’ve attended for years or this will be your first time, we invite you to come celebrate with us, discover something new, and be a part of this beautiful tradition.

¡Nos vemos en el festival!
