Upcoming OCMS Events & Ways to Participate

OCMS is gearing up for the annual Downtown Spooktacular event around the Square and in the alleys!  It will be held on Friday, October 27th from 5:30-7:00pm.  This fun event is for children in 4th grade and under. 

Want to participate and give out candy/provide a game?

Register by Friday, October 20th by emailing [email protected] or calling 641-342-4200. We will place you in an alley way. The alleys will have different themes – if you could decorate/go with the theme of the alley that would be Awesome & the kids will love it! Below are the themes for each alley

• Northside Alley – Black Cats/ghosts/graveyard
• Eastside Alley – Witches & Wizards
• Southside Alley – Scarecrows & Jack-o-lanterns
• Westside Alley – Reserved for Altec

In years past we have handed out around 600 pieces of candy. Instead of Candy, feel free to bring a game & have the kids play! Last year there was a lot of positive feedback!

Don’t want to do it by yourself or think your business is too small to take part? 

• I will provide you with the names of the other local businesses that are in the same alley so you can coordinate with them if you so choose.

• Encourage your neighborhood families to get together and send people to the square.

 This fun-filled event has been a huge success in the past and we hope to continue with your help.  We invite you, your employees, and family and friends to attend.

The iconic wine walk will be held Friday, November 3rd from 5:00pm. – 9:00pm. This event is for people 21+! Ticket Sales start October 2nd – you can purchase tickets at the OCMS office or online this year! The first 350 to purchase a ticket are guaranteed a glass & goodie bag!

Want to Participate by pouring wine or setting up a booth?

·         Register by September 29th so we can get a count on how much wine/beer we will need!

·         You will need to take a ‘pouring class’ at the OCMS office. It takes about 5 minutes – very simple!

·         Please let me know if you would like to pour Wine or Beer.

Don’t have a business Downtown but still want to participate?

·         We will have a space for you - We will most likely have you set up in the old Robinson Building!

Have a coupon/promotional item you would like in the goodie bags?

·        Let us know by September 29th! Please keep items no larger than 2” X 2” due to limited space in the bags this year!

OCMS is revamping ‘Holiday Brilliance’ into ‘Christmas in the Park’ scheduled for December 2. We would like as many businesses to participate as possible! This event will be tailored to children & families! We are open to any and all ideas! If you want to help in any way possible, we would like to work with you! Below are a few things that we envision.

How can you help?

-Kids’ crafts, games, Hot Cocoa, etc.

-Live window displays/decorating contest.

-Participate in the lighted parade.
