Thursday, July 2nd, OCMS Staff and a few board members celebrated a ribbon cutting with the owners and supporters of Sassy’s Styles and Tiana Lee Boudoir. Ashley Myers, Tiana, and her team transformed the former Iowa State Extension office, 154 West Jefferson, into a purple, pink and sparkly space which accommodates a complete hair salon, waxing room, and photography studio.  www.facebook.com/sassys.styles17/

Tiana lives in Ohio but is working at the salon through the month of July to book photo sessions. Her mission is to “…Unbind women from self-limiting beliefs and societal pressures; empower women to love themselves, right now.” http://www.tianalee.com/ When Tiana is not available, the photo room will be rented to other photographers who need a temporary professional space.

Rose Ann Jordison and her team at Ivy Rose are working around the clock to transform what was Gene and Nelson’s Appliance into a permanent space for the boutique. According to her Facebook page, they are in the stage of painting inside the store. Although she will not commit to a grand-reopening date, Rose Ann hopes it is soon. They are regularly updating their Facebook posts to include new inventory and specials. www.facebook.com/IvyRoseOsceolaIa

Although the store remains open, Darlene’s Variety Store and More is in the process of returning to her original ‘pop-up’ store location between the Osceola Sentinel Tribune office and OCMS/CCDC offices on East Washington. Temporary Window Exhibits Earn Thumbs-Up

Empty buildings with large windows facing the square can be eye sores or opportunities. OCMS Director, Ashleigh Eckels reached out to City Administrator, Ty Wheeler, to borrow these spaces for businesses who do not have a building or downtown store front. The former Midwest Wholesale Outlet store and the building by Murphy’s Law Firm on West Jefferson, became temporary spaces two former Clarke students.

Photographer Jaime Pollard-Parrot owner of Jaime’s Photo and Design filled her window space with a portfolio of wedding, children, baby and nature prints. Entrepreneur Amanda (Sanders) Morrow with Pure Romance enlisted the help of her children to create window art along with a display of her products.

Ashleigh Eckels believes window sharing is a great way to market and OCMS invites other entrepreneurs and businesses off the square to take advantage of an open store front to display their goods, “It gives our visitors to the square something nice to look at and is great way to showcase what your business has to offer to the public. “
