February Business Spotlight: Saylor Realty- Helen Saylor-Kimes

The professionals at Saylor Realty have decades of experience with the real estate market in South Central Iowa-43 years to be exact. Helen Saylor-Kimes and her staff have a combined total of 179 years of experience!  Recently recognized with the Community Service Award, Helen said the company has always been a member of the Osceola Chamber and feel they need to continue to work together to market the wonderful things Osceola has to offer.

When Eddy and Helen were first married, they both obtained real estate licenses. First Saylor Realty (affiliated with Better Homes and Gardens) however, began in 1977 after Helen became a Broker. As a Broker, she and Eddy could own their own firm and hire other agents. After Eddy passed away, Helen continued to manage and grow the company, which was renamed Saylor Realty many years ago. She says they have always been a prominent real estate company in Osceola and surrounding areas.

Helen says real estate has always been enjoyable, but depending on economic conditions, it declines along with other businesses in difficult times. The housing market is an indicator of economic conditions; when sales are down, it’s a sign of trouble. Helen says, “These times have always proven to be the most difficult struggles in our history…We need new homes!”  Helen says low housing stock has been an issue since the 70s.

To continue to offer the best in real estate services, Saylor Realty has prepared for 2020 in several ways: continuing to upgrade technology, using a combination of advertising media and expanding the sales staff.

Of course, using Social Media is important, but Helen believes in the power of print to more effectively reach those who are not comfortable with new technology and the many changing forms of those advertising techniques.

Helen credits success to the support of her husband of 20 years, Gary Kimes, and close professional staff, “Saylor Realty strives to provide a pleasant working environment which will encourage our agents to move forward, get education and enjoy their position in providing excellent service while knowing they are part of a family, The Saylor Realty Family!”

As a long-time board member of the Clarke County Development Corp, Helen has a wish for 2020 and beyond, “I would like to see continued and improved relationships with all the City, County, Development Corporation and various other community organizations to work to hand- in-hand for the benefit of All!”
